30 Day Song Challenge - Day 3

Day 03 - Name a song that makes you happy.

Donna Summer - Last Dance

I tried and tried to narrow it down to just one, but couldn't.  Just couldn't do it.  Hell, it's a miracle I got it down to two.  All music makes me happy, in a sense, because music is my best friend.  There is always a song that says what I need to hear, sometimes whether I want to or not.

I'm not a happy camper in general.  Being super smiley just ain't my thing.  I have to say that some of my best happy moments come from a song long ago and far away.  Break out the platform shoes, kids, and start swingin' those hips... do the Hustle!  Nothing gets the glitter in my mind to spinning like a disco ball, reflecting memories all around the dance floor.  So, the first is my one that gets everyone out in the crowd, swaying, singing and having a great time.  Donna Summer, the Queen of Dance.

Leo Sayer - More Than I Can Say

The second, I had to include, because it is the last song I can remember my mom loving.  She passed away in 1986.  I can still see her fingernails tapping along, and she'd just sing out loud - loud as she could, without a care in the world, despite the weight of that world on her shoulders.  And every time I hear that song, that's how I remember her.  It's a rare moment in a tumultuous time, now as much as it was then.

30 Day Song Challenge - Day 2

Shania Twain - I'm Gonna Getcha Good

Day 02 - Least Favorite Song

There are quite a few songs of Shania's for me to choose from.  Nothing against her personally, but I am not big on gender-bashing to begin with.  I don't do that whole "such a typical guy!" thing, or "men are stupid", and I find a lot of her songs to be very tiresome in their put-downs.

This one isn't one of those songs, but this one really is just bad in its lyrics.  Lines like "Your love is like real estate and I'm gonna get me some land".. I mean, really?

30 Day Song Challenge - Day 1

Favorite Song

Pretty In Pink - Try A Little Tenderness

The key to a woman's heart isn't hard to find.  Tap into her mind, even a small glance into her soulful eyes, and it lies there, reflecting back at you.  All it takes is a little tenderness.  And nobody sings it better than Otis.  And nobody ever danced it better than Ducky.
